Week 30: Crazy Days

Oh what an interesting day it has been!!  Today included several hours of painting (one day I'll be done!), a trip to the grocery store, a little nudity in the turtle pool (on Alex's part. . .just to clarify. . .), poop in the tub not once but TWICE promptly followed by pee all over the floor (once again, on Alex's part), Monday night dinner hosted at our house, completed by more painting to be done tonight.  Once again I am left with little motivation to take pictures or blog, but hey, carpet is scheduled to be installed one week from today and then hopefully I can focus on other things besides painting, painting, painting!!  YAY!!!

In the mean time, here are a few pictures from this week's adventures.

Week 29: Cool Guy

It is late. . .or at least late for me; somewhere along the way I've turned into an old person who has a strict 10 pm bedtime on weekdays.  I've spent far too many hours painting the basement and driving around crazy people today and just as I sat down this evening to blog, Matt commandeered the laptop to search for the perfect light fixture for the basement.  Here I am left with little motivation to edit pictures or write anything even mildly interesting, so I will simply leave you with couple pictures of my cool little guy. . . the grandparents at least will be pleased.

Week 28: Eric

This is my brother.

Or at least that was my brother six years ago.  He looks so young!  This was taken at mine and Matt's wedding; obviously Eric was thrilled to be there.

This is my brother now.

He's all grown up!  And I'm not really sure how that happened; in my mind he should still be about 15.  It doesn't seem like that long ago when we would jump on the gold couch, or when he would steal my stuffed animals from my room, or when I would steal his uneaten treats from his tee ball games.  Oh the many hours we spent watching Eric play tee ball, . . . and baseball, . . . and basketball, . . . and flag football, . . . and soccer!  One of the saddest days of my life was when Eric totally kicked my butt at soccer - he was 5 or so, and I was 12.  He had short legs at that point, but dang he was really fast!  Maybe a year or so later, Eric challenged me to a basketball game; I was a couple feet taller and feeling somewhat confident, I accepted his challenge.  Once the score reached 30 to 7 or so in favor of my brother, I got mad and in my shame I vowed to never play any sport-related game with him ever again.  By the time he was 13, that vow extended to video games as well - there are only so many times a person can handle being shot on Medal of Honor without ever spotting the opponent. . . stupid game!

On Wednesday Eric is leaving for two years to serve an LDS mission to Spokane, Washington.  Eric and I are about 6.5 years apart and have never been super close - he always had his thing and I had mine - but I can honestly say that I'm really going to miss him!  Over the last couple years we have started to talk more, and I have loved it!  Eric has always been rather quite, he doesn't really like a big show, and while there is so much more I could say about my brother, I'm not sure he would appreciate it.  So I will end with this: I love my little brother and I think he will be an awesome missionary!!  Good luck Elder Sharp!!

Week 27: Adventures

Whew, what a week!  Swimming at Seven Peaks, play group at the Church History Museum, Lone Ranger with Laurendeau's, Murray's 4th of July parade, family BBQ in Kaysville, Murray fireworks, Jordan River Temple with my brother and family (he leaves on his mission to Spokane in a week and a half!! AHHHH!!!!), family lunch, painting the front door, cleaning the basement walls, . . .

and we decided to top it all off by going fishing with some friends.

Yeah, that didn't happen.  Instead, Alex had a blast wading in the gutters while Matt and a friend helped push a truck that stalled out as it went through 2 ft of standing water on the road.  They also attempted to rescue a family of racoons trapped in the storm drain.  It was an eventful week, to say the least!

Hopefully next week there will be more picture taking.

Week 26: Hello Walls!!

Today's post is brought to you by Sheetrock Jesus.  For anyone who needs any type of drywall work done, we recommend him - fast, cheap, good quality - what more could you ask for?  Not very good English, but ehhh, it works.

Not many pictures were taken this week, the house is a disaster, nothing is clean, but by golly we have real walls again!!  Oh how happy the little things make me!!

The exposed studs and pipes look was a good look, it offered that industrial urban feel; the pink insulation was an especially nice touch.  But we've decided to go in a more slightly finished direction. . .

Downstairs After
Ok, the walls still aren't painted, we need new carpet, molding, doors, and the toilet is still in the back yard, but that's beside the point.  For now, let's celebrate this little milestone. :)
